On February 11, 2017, members of Delta Pi Delta Alumnae Chapter of Alpha Chi Omega met at Longshore Lakes Country Club in Naples, Florida, for their annual fashion show/fundraiser. On this day, members are encouraged to bring their friends to play cards and other games, as well as to share the luncheon and enjoy the fashion show afterwards. Many guests accompanied their Alpha Chi friends for the games, and even more arrived in time for lunch.
Returning for the second year was Fashion Consultant, Janet A. Carr of Sarasota, Florida, who brought with her a huge collection of clothes and jewelry from her traveling boutique, “Accessories and More.” Members were able to look through the items, try them on and buy them as well, with 10% of sales going to our chapter. After lunch, Janet presented a fashion show, with our own members modeling the fashions.
After the fashion show, the February Birthday Girls, Judith, Valary, Sue, Jane, and Ann received their red carnation bouquets. There were a number of great raffle items, for which members bought tickets as part of our fundraising efforts. The last order of the day was to draw the raffle tickets and award prizes to the lucky winners. The orchids were a favorite raffle item, as was the jewelry made by our own Phyllis Leahy, and an afghan hand-made by Margi Shostedt. Our fundraising goes to support our philanthropies, which are the shelters for abused women in Collier, Charlotte and Lee Counties, the collegians at the new Alpha Chi Chapter at Florida Gulf Coast University, Kappa Chi, and the Alpha Chi Omega Foundation, whose mission is to educate and empower women.
