After our luncheon, Lydia’s Song, a women's vocal ensemble from North Naples United Methodist Church, sang hymns celebrating the Christmas season. The group takes its name from a woman in the Bible named Lydia, who was not only a prosperous businesswoman but is also thought to have been the first European to convert to Christianity. She dealt in purple cloth, and this holy woman is often depicted wearing a purple shawl or veil. In honor of Lydia, the group includes the color purple in their attire. Because music is an integral part of the ministry of the North Naples Church, Lydia’s Song performs frequently at church functions, and several members of the choir teach music classes at the Village School, affiliated with the North Naples Church. The music this group makes is both inspired and inspiring and infused our day with the Christmas spirit.
